Turtle Baby Shower

The big day had finally arrived!  My sister-in-law's baby shower, in my opinion, has been one of the cutest projects I've done.  I'm so proud of what I have accomplished, so here I am sharing it with you!

The theme was turtles... she absolutely loves them.  So choosing the theme was rather easy, although I must confess I was rooting for those little vintage birds (next time, I guess!)

I really wanted to feature a diaper cake as the main thing on the dessert/candy table as a gift for the mom-to-be (or should I say the baby!).  I carried the turtle theme and the carnation flower arrangements the guest tables as well.  These flower arrangements were done using recycled bean cans and covered with scrapbooking paper in a variety of patterns and designs, arranged in trios in each table.  No two were alike.

As party favors we gave cello bags filled with chocolates and hand-dipped Oreo cookies in colored white chocolate, made by yours truly.

Since my baby's second birthday, I've been wanting to work a little more on fondant figurines.  So I found these little turtles online and thanks to a tutorial I found at The Cake Journal, I ventured into making them, as well as the little flowers.  I believe they came out great.  Of course I made my usual cupcake toppers to complement the cupcake stands.  A customized banner and beautiful balloons tied it all together.

The candy table featured mini marshmallows, sour gumballs, circus peanuts, orange gummies and other yummy treats for the kids.  They were all idetified with these little candy tags.

This party has been a great inspiration to launch my little business of custom birthday partyware and stationary, among other things.  Stay tuned for details are coming soon!!!

'Till next time!  ; )
